Leadership activities
I have held various leadership positions in the Physics & Astronomy Department at the University of Kansas, including Departmental Graduate Advisor, Departmental Director of Graduate Studies, and Undergraduate Committee Chair as part of those duties I sat on our department's leadership team for 9 years, helping to guide departmental policy, including through the whole period of COVID.
At the national level I have been on multiple review panels and have chaired some of those. I was a member of the Committee for the Status of Women in Astronomy for 7 years and lead the implementation of its Strategic Plan. Most recently I was elected as a member at large of the American Astronomical Society's Board of Trustees.
In research I have lead several research Teams at the International Space Science Institute in Bern, Switzerland and served on the management board of the Gemini Observations of Galaxies in Rich Early ENvironments (GOGREEN) Long and Large Spectroscopic program at the Gemini International Observatory in addition to heading the large imaging acquisition component of GOGREEN. I also co-organized an incredible conference on Extreme Galaxies in Extreme Environments at Extremely Early Epochs in Reykjavik, Iceland. I am constantly pursuing science leadership opportunities.
On a personal level I have been on the board of directors of the Lawrence Jewish Community Center and am a Scoutmaster with the Scouts of America.
