I am passionate about working to bring astronomy to students of all levels at KU, from first-semester non-majors to graduate students pursuing research in astronomy and astrophysics.  Read more.

Research

I pursue the observational study of how galaxies grow and evolve over cosmic time and how that evolution is influenced by the regions in which galaxies live, called their "environment."  Read more.

Outreach

I give public talks and since 2013 have run an award-winning year-long research-based astronomy outreach program at Lawrence High School.  Read more.

I work to improve any organization to which I belong  I am a proactive leader who takes on hard tasks, leads by example, and always works to improve opportunities for my constituency.  I have leadership positions in my department and in the American Astronomical Society. Read more.
